Introvert's Tarot - Death Card
Share
Let's talk about death... not the grim kind, the alchemical kind! The kind that clears space for rebirth (and maybe a little chaos).
Why start with the Death card? Because I’m a creative, damn it and this was the first spark that smacked me in the face. So here we are.
We’re not following a neat little order here; we’re following intuition, dopamine, and chaos, in other words, the creative process in its purest form. It will be nothing if not entertaining... you're welcome 🤣
Ok, onto the card:
Alright, so we're reinventing the wheel (or the scythe) with this card, at the end of this unpacking of my design I go into detail about the OG Rider–Waite Death card, so you can see the complexity we are trying to encapsulate here.

Let's dive into the "bunny take" on this card:
(Work in progress)
Rabbit — Innocence Meets Transformation
Our fluffy friend is the ultimate paradox: soft and mortal, yet endlessly reborn. The rabbit is curiosity incarnate, peeking through the veil, still trembling, still trying. It’s that part of you that says, “Okay, maybe I am ready to grow up… but can I take my comfort blanket with me?”
Skull — Ending, Truth & The Inevitability of Change
The skull isn’t a threat; it’s honesty in bone form. It says: nothing fake survives the fire. It’s your reminder that endings aren’t cruel, they’re just real. The stripping away of what was never meant to last.
Mushroom — Renewal Rising from Decay
You’ve got to love fungi, thriving in darkness, turning death into dinner. The mushroom is your “comeback” energy, the quiet proof that life regenerates from the messiest breakdowns.
Candle — Hope, Light & Soul
Instead of a big dramatic sunrise, you’ve got a flickering candle, intimate, personal, steady. It doesn’t blind you; it guides you. Hope that glows softly, reminding you that even in endings, the spirit burns on.
Aether — Spirit, Continuity, Violet Spark
That subtle violet shimmer? That’s the whisper that says: you never really die. Spirit endures, transforms, and reconfigures. The violet spark is the cosmic wink, “see you on the other side of your own evolution.”
Colour Codes & Energy Flow
- Black silhouette: The unknown, spirit mid-shift.
- Violet glow: Continuity, the reminder that nothing’s wasted.
- Red: Vitality becoming wisdom.
Final Word
Your Death card isn’t doom it’s the gentle revolution happening inside you.
The one where innocence meets experience, endings meet beginnings, and you meet yourself, again, for the first time.
RIDER WAITE:

It’s the Death card. Gasp. Oh no.
I know what you're thinking, but it's going to be ok, relax no one’s actually dying. This isn’t a funeral; it’s a glow-up. The Death card is the tarot’s mic-drop moment, it’s change you didn’t ask for but definitely needed. Think endings, yes, but the kind that set you free.
13 — Sacred Transformation
Lucky 13 isn’t bad luck it’s cosmic spring cleaning. It says, “What if the ending isn’t punishment… it’s preparation?” Death strips away what’s stale so you can rebuild something solid.
Purity & Beauty (The White Rose)
That flower on the flag? It’s not decoration it’s detox. Purity, rebirth, and the kind of beauty that comes after you’ve cried, screamed, and then saged your whole house.
Death (The Rider)
Our bony bestie on horseback isn’t scary he’s just doing his job. He doesn’t discriminate or delay. Translation: the change is happening whether you RSVP or not. Might as well ride along.
Power (The Black Flag & White Horse)
Black and white, the ultimate power duo. This combo screams balance: endings + beginnings, dark + light, grief + grace. Real power isn’t control, it’s release.
Protection (The Armour)
That armour? Boundaries, baby. You’re protected while things fall apart. You can let go and still be safe, transformation doesn’t mean exposure; it means evolution.
Journey (The River, Path & Water)
See that river winding off into the horizon? That’s your soul, still flowing. Endings aren’t dead ends; they’re detours with better scenery. Keep moving, the sun’s literally rising ahead. The water underfoot says: feel it. Cry, rage, ugly-sob. Emotion is the alchemy that turns endings into wisdom.
Power & Authority (The Fallen Crown)
Even the crown hits the dirt because ego doesn’t get to outrun growth. When the old systems crumble, that’s not chaos. That’s clarity.
Youth & New Beginnings (The Child)
The kid with the flower? That’s your inner optimist showing up uninvited, saying, “Hey, maybe this isn’t the end.” And she’s right. Every time you let something die, something innocent and brand new is waiting to bloom.
Light & Purity (The Rising Sun)
That sunrise is your comeback arc. You thought it was over, but the light’s already breaking through. Death in tarot doesn’t end the story, it changes the author.
Spiritual Guidance (The Cleric)
That kneeling figure isn’t begging to stop it he’s surrendering. Sometimes faith isn’t about praying for things to stay; it’s trusting they’re shifting for a reason.
Stability (The Twin Towers)
Those towers on the horizon? The cosmic door frame. You’re stepping through it, leaving one version of you behind. Stability isn’t about sameness it’s about trust in what’s unfolding.
Colour Codes & Energy Flow:
- Black Armor: The unknown. Spirit mid-shift. The moment before you know who you’re becoming.
- White Horse & Rose: Surrender and renewal, clarity after chaos.
- Red Accents: Life force. Courage. The will to move forward, even through endings.
- Gold Sunlight: Wisdom born from what you’ve survived.
- Blue River: Emotional release, flow over force.
- Grey Ground: The in-between. Compost before bloom.
